Learn continually, there’s always “one more thing” to learn!

One of the most common problems in the Inside Sales job is the lack of training when taking up the job. The manager expects immediate results and the Inside Sales is often found to be poorly trained.

Do not panic! With patience and determination, this is a pitfall that you can overcome quickly.

Regularly, managers have busy calendars and they imagine that the few information they provided to you on your arrival will be sufficient. They soon forget their first days. The immediate expectation of results, combined with a lack of information and experience, can very quickly create tension and demotivate the team.

Do not be discouraged: Rome was not done in a day! For every new job, there is a specific learning curve. So, it makes sense that you first discover the inner workings of the business, learn how it works before you can fully immerse yourself and produce good results. Regardless of your skill level, you need time to absorb and implement the new information. Try to let go any frustration or demotivation you might experience, everything comes just in time to who knows how to learn (and wait)!

"I only know one thing, which is that I don't know anything.” Socrates, a Greek philosopher from the 4th century BC, could not have said it better! You should indeed remain humble in the face of your knowledge. No one can know everything, and you should not feel ashamed of not knowing something. It's human.

This does not mean, however, that you should remain on this observation and not seek to learn. Ask yourself the right questions and go in search of information. Take the initiative! Ask your manager, ask your colleagues. And if that is not enough, go to the source of the information, find the answers to your questions on the Internet. Get in touch with people who work in the same field: social networks like Linkedln allow you to do this. You would be surprised how happy people can be to help someone in need of answers!

Likewise, use the information available in the company correctly and conscientiously: brochures, brochures, site, social networks, analysis of competitors, e-mail templates, etc. There is no "small" information to understand and decipher the politics and culture of a company.

And why not extend your learning with training? You will thus develop a deeper knowledge of your function and acquire more efficient tools to fulfill it successfully. Your company may have a training budget. So if that's the case, take advantage of it to maximize your professional skills.

And above all, don't forget it is by forging that you become a blacksmith!
